Us predicts big rise in emissions
The US Department of Energy predicts that world carbon emissions will rise by 75% by 2030, over the 2003 level, from 25bn tonnes to 43.7 bn tonnes pa, according to this report in the FT.
“The EIA said that in four years, CO2 emissions in developing countries in Asia, including China and India, would surpass North America. Coal combustion, could overtake oil as the largest fossil fuel source of CO2 emissions from 2015 to 2030.
World oil demand would rise from about 86m barrels a day to 118m b/d by 2030.”
