UK Gas Cap Increase
Joz Cozijnsen of Climex has a nice summary post of the impact of the UK legal win against the EC on the extent of shortage of allocations:
Assuming the Commission accept the new NAP, the UK’s allocation will increase with 20Mton. This will mean that the overall EU shortage will decrease with 10% from 180 to 160Mton. The CO2 price went immediately down below the 20€ levels, which is logical if we realize that most active players now on the EU ETS are British power companies! Fridays decision of the Italian government to cut its NAP with 10Mton made the shortage again a bit higher, but foremost added to the certainty of the EU ETS.
