The UK Government released its energy review today (see BBC report).  Highlights: A green light given to new nuclear power plants and a target for renewable energy sources to comprise 20% of UK energy needs by 2020.  In addition, revised planning processes to fast-track new energy generation projects and plants.  Main drivers:  the need to reduce imported gas and oil, and the need for more carbon-neutral energy generation.
