There’s no more turning back
Most recent studies convince the UN that there is no reversing the effect of existing greenhouse gases on ice sheets and the subsequent rise in sea levels. The IPCC will detail in a report in April, how this will affect coastlines and areas at risk in attempt to prepare countries for the inevitable rise of 4-6 meters.
This warning should increase pressure on governments to attack the problem more effectively, considering how current targets are still infrequently met:
“According to a report by Christian Aid, only 16 of Britain’s top 100 listed companies are meeting the government’s most elementary reporting guidelines on greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, almost 200m tonnes of damaging CO2 is estimated to be missing from the annual reports of FTSE 100 companies.”
