Green Fuels Float
Confidence in the economic future of alternative fuels appears to be rising as one producer has recently floated on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market, and another expects to follow suit in September.
Biofuels Corporation and D1 Oils, who both produce biodiesel, are seeking funds to expand production. They hope that economies of scale will see prices falling to levels closer to those of regular diesel fuel. Biodiesel currently costs up to three times as much to produce as regular diesel.
A favourable tax regime in Germany has already allowed biodiesel to hold a significant part of the market there, and producers are hoping for similar situations elsewhere.
