China and the Environment
Today’s Financial Times carries a guest article by Chandran Nair, founder and CEO of the Asian think-tank Global Institute for Tomorrow, about China’s strong commitment to green policies. This article reinforces the view of China we expressed earlier this week when discussing the prospects for the Kyoto process.
Among Nair’s suggestions are:
“Second, China’s leaders could create an internal emissions trading scheme, run according to its own rules. Piloted in the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong, it could become the world’s biggest within a decade.”
