The FT reported yesterday that carbon credits trading appeared to be one of only three hedge-fund strategies which allowed hedge funds to survive the recent financial markets turmoil. The other two strategies were apparently freight and property derivatives. Two-thirds of all hedge funds have lost money, mainly because they need to reduce holdings across the board to meet margin calls in a particular falling sector.
