Carbon labels on UK products

To meet the satisfaction of environmentally-conscious consumers, 9 major corporations have adhered to a new product carbon footprinting standard, which is being developed by the Carbon Trust, Defra and BSI British Standards.

EnvironmentLeader.com publicised that Coca-Cola, M΋ller Dairy, Cadbury among them are adding a carbon label to some of their products that inform the consumer exactly how much carbon was released in the production of each product. Walkers crisps, according to the BBC is the first to add a carbon label to every packet of crisps. The article also explains how they derive exactly how much CO2 (75g per packet) is emitted in the product lifecycle of each packet.
