Over at the Climex New Values Community blog is a post reporting a presentation given as a side event to the Montreal Climate Change conference on 25 November 2005 online auction of forward CER contracts arising Asian CDM projects. This auction was conducted jointly by Climex and the Asia Carbon Exchange (ACX-Change). The ACX reports that:

Around 1,5-mil CERs were offered on-line November 25 from 12 CDM projects mainly based in India and Vietnam in the field of renewable energy, with vintages ranging from 2007 to 2012. Five potential buyers participated in the auction. Most projects received bids with prices ranging from € 3.75 to € 6.25. Eight transactions have been closed for a total of 130.000 tons. One whole project has been sold in Vietnam.

A buyer of CERs arising CDMs would need to ensure the the project would be approved and thus that the CERs arising it from can be used to offset any emissions.

Because of the success of this first auction, a second is planned for 2005-12-16.
