Branson’s Green-Aviation Plight
After promising $3bn to combat climate change last week, Sir Richard Branson is urging the global aviation industry to join him in the fight.
He is predicting the potential to cut 25% of the carbon emissions from aviation if he can persuade airlines, airports and governments work together.
Aviation is responsible for just 2% of global CO2 emissions, so this cut would represent a 150mT reduction.
Roughly half of that cut could be made simply by improving Air Traffic Control systems, but the other half will be considerably harder to make.
