B.C. in Canada to introduce cap-and-trade
The British Colombia province in Canada is over the course of the next year, taking the Canadian lead in fighting greenhouse gas emissions after Quebec recently imposed a tax on CO2 emitting hydrocarbons. Laws will be put in place by next spring, imposing limits on industrial emissions for one, allowing for the creation of a cap-and-trade system.
They are also investing in options for creating clean energy including a large scale dam, investing in energy conservation for buildings, injecting more money to the public transportation system among other eco-responsible commitments, according to an article in the Goldstream News Gazette.
