Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, is building the world’s first carbon-neutral, waste-free and car-free city, at a cost of US$ 22 billion. Construction work started today, and the city, to known as Masdar City, will house 50,000 residents and 1,500 businesses by 2016.
