Nearly free bio-energy?

According to Wired magazine, Coskata, a start-up in Illinois, backed by General Motors, claims it can make ethanol for US $ 1 per gallon, and using any bio-matter, not just corn.
But let us hope the move to transform natural landscapes into biofuel farms does not make our carbon emission position worse, as this report suggests.
