IPCC, economic expertise and dissent

Clive Crook has an interesting article in today’s FT about the absence of non-scientific expertise, and the dismissal of dissenting views, by the panjandrums of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC):

Concern about the environment, and particularly carbon emissions, is leading US city planning authorities to limit the spread of so-called McMansions, massive houses, often built on small plots of land.

A Reuters article reports that the UK Government has launched a website that allows you to compare the emissions of any car before you buy, if that could influence your decision.
The website “Best on CO2” created their ranking system with What Car? magazine.
