The US Department of Energy predicts that world carbon emissions will rise by 75% by 2030, over the 2003 level, from 25bn tonnes to 43.7 bn tonnes pa, according to this report in the FT.

The UK energy regulator, Ofgem, is apparently assessing whether next winter is likely to see tightness in gas supplies in Britain, as it did last winter.  We saw the impact of this on gas prices, and on requirements that companies limit their gas usage in favour of householders.  See the report in the FT:
