The global energy bill could be cut by nearly 10% by simply adopting energy efficient lighting systems.
10% may not sound vast, but lighting accounts for nearly a fifth of the world’s consumption, and a cut of this size would eclipse the savings made so far by switching to solar and wind power.

German Cut Abysmal

As mentioned in the previous post, the German Government has opted for a cut in carbon emissions for ETS Phase 2 of just 0.63%, comparing emissions in 2012 with those in 2005. This is not good news for Earth, and risks making the whole program a mockery! The BBC News report is here.

“A proposal to bury 200 million tons of carbon dioxide a year by 2020 - cutting the country’s emissions by one-sixth - is under study, Masahiro Nishio, an official at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, said on Monday.
