Global temperature estimates too low

The BBC reports on two new scientific studies which indicate that current estimates of global temperature increases due to climate change are too low, perhaps by as much as 75%.  If these revised estimates are accepted, pressure will increase on Governments to reduce carbon emissions faster than currently planned under the Kyoto Agreement.

Market jitters

Carbon permit prices rose again on Monday and Tuesday, supposedly as a result of news that the German Government was considering rescinding emissions permits, and that France would seek to carry unused permits forward into Phase II of the trading programme (ie, 2008-2012).   Today, they have fallen back somewhat.
